Target Store Coupon & Refund Policies

I have gotten a couple of questions on the Target post so I thought I would do a quick post to answer some of the questions.

Here is the official Target Coupon Policy that I found...

Please note, the Target Customer Service phone number is (800) 440-0680. Please put this in your cell phone because you just may need it. Likewise, print out a copy of the policy so that you have that as well. In fact, print more than one since you'll likely have to give your copy up if it becomes necessary.

Official Target Coupon Policy:

Dear Target Guest,
When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

- We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.
- We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
- We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we're able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
- We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
- All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out.

For questions about using a specific coupon, we encourage you to stop by Guest Service and ask to speak with the Guest Service Team Leader. They'll do their best to help while you're in the store. If you still have questions after speaking with them, please call our Guest Relations team at (800) 440-0680. Either way, we're here to help!

We appreciate the opportunity to share this information with you.

Sincerely,

Daniel

#1 ~ Reader Stac question: I tried to use the coupons for the Hersey Bliss candy bars and they would not let me. They said since the candy bars are only .99 and the coupon is for a dollar off it would not work. I know they have taken coupons before that have left an overage but they wouldn't let me on this one. Have you tried it and if so, what Target were you at? I went to the new one on North Fifth but no luck.

Answer: Per their coupon policy the cashier should have adjusted the coupon down to $.99. Again this is a case of cashier having a bad day or just not understanding Target coupon policy. Next time I would bring a copy of this policy & nicely explain that they are allowed to use the coupon as you were using the coupon as written.

#2 ~ Reader Staci: Was having problems using the link I gave to print the Target coupons. Here is another source to be able to print more than 1 on a page.

#2 ~ Afullcup.com ~ you will have to register on the site but it might be worth it in order to print the coupons if you can get them to work through. Also if you set up your printer to print in landscape you will be able to fit even more coupons on 1 page.

#3 ~ The prices in the match-up may be a little different than is in the store. I haven't had a chance to check the prices in store so I am just going off what a reader told me on some of the items that are not in the weekly ad.

#4 ~ Updated Return Policy: From By JOHN EWOLDT, Star Tribune

Effective May 15, Target's return policy improves slightly. Customers still have 90 days from the date of purchase for returns or exchanges with a receipt. That's not changing. What Target is "relaxing" is the policy for returns without a receipt.

Previously, customers could make two returns per year for store credit as long as each item was under $35. Items costing more than $35 were not returnable without a receipt. (Target customers can also request a receipt "look-up" in customer service. If the item was paid for with a credit or debit card, check or gift card and the buyer can provide the checking account number, credit, debit or gift card, it qualifies as a return with a receipt.)

The new return policy without a receipt changes the maximum value from $35 per item to $70. Customers are no longer limited to two transactions without a receipt per 12-month period. The customer can return any number of items without a receipt, up to $70 in total value. For example, a shopper could reach the limit by returning one item without a receipt for $70. Another could return 10 items for $7 each to max out.

Once Target customers reach the $70 limit, they may still exchange new and unused clothing with tags attached for different sizes, colors or like items. Food items may also be returned at the historical low price.
