Money Savin' Diva had a this great post about ways to collect extra coupons; I thought you might find this interesting:
~ Sunday paper. This is the number one source for coupons. Try to get several copies per week. This will maximize your savings.
(Budgeteer interjection - Now that I have partnered Grocery Smarts I can get you the Las Vegas Review Journal Sunday only edition for only $.75 per week! It is normally $2.50, so you can actually get THREE (almost FOUR) copies for the price it would cost you at the newsstand. Talk about collecting some valuable coupons. Contact me to set up your delivery!)
Some other ways to get the paper:
* Recycling Bin Dive (better known as dumpster diving) for unwanted ads
* Ask neighbor’s, friends and relatives for the copies they don’t want.
* Ask anyplace that sells papers if you can have the coupons that are leftover on Monday morning. (Budgeteer interjection - I have never done this, so I don't know what the Review Journal's policy is on this. If someone finds out, let me know!)
~ Blinkie Machines at the grocery store. You know, those machines that are attached to shelves at the store and spit coupons out when you walk by. These are usually a pretty high dollar coupon, so if you spot a good one, stand by the machine and grab as many as you can!
~ Peelies on packaging. Some packages will have a good coupon right on the package. I’ve found $1/1 peelies on Pop-Tarts and on Scotch Brite Nail Saver Sponges. Watch for these, they’re pretty rare, but when they come around they’re worth it!
(Budgeteer interjection - I have the largest stockpile of Betty Crocker Ranch Pasta Salad boxes because I found them clearanced at the grocery store for $.80 with a $.50 peelie on the box. Score!)
~ Printable coupons. (Budgeteer interjection - check out my post here to learn all about printable coupons.)
~ From the Manufacturer. Manufacturer’s hear lots of complaints about faulty or bad products. But they also like to hear the good! I try to compliment a different company each day on a product, and have been sent a coupon to thank me for doing so 99% of the time! The value of these varies from high to low…I’ve even scored coupons for a FREE item by doing this! Also, if you do have a bad experience with a product, don’t shy away from letting the company know. I once had the eyeliner that I bought (which I ALWAYS use and LOVE) break completely down and it only lasted two days, so I emailed CoverGirl and they sent me two coupons for a free product, plus coupons for a few of their other products). They want to keep their customers happy!
Some other ways get manufacturer coupons:
* Companies will also often offer a booklet of coupons for you to sign up for. I’ve received booklets from Betty Crocker, Glade, Pillsbury, and P&G. These often are a very high dollar coupon and sometimes include a coupon for a free item!
~ Request those freebies. Embrace requesting free samples of items off the internet. 90% of the time your free sample will come with a great coupon! So you get a great coupon plus a free something!
~ All You Magazine. This can only be bought at Wal-Mart. It is chock full of great coupons. I usually buy 2 copies each month and use most all of what is included.
Some other ways get magazine coupons:
* Lots of other magazines have coupons in their issues as well, just not as many as AllYou has. So hunt out those free subscriptions online to magazines such as GoodHousekeeping, Parents and Family Circle, all of which I have found coupons in.
